Scion by Toyota, the real
"It Car" for tuners on a budget.
Look out Germany! Scions come loaded-standard power windows, locks, steering, mirrors, AC, remote keyless, six speaker mp3 stereo, ground effects and traction control for about $14k! With add-ons from TRD and AEM, right from the dealer, these little rice-rockets are a serious contenters.
All this for around fourteen grand, with that Toyota quality, to last long after the payments and the other inferior rides, are a just distant memory.

For the average junior player with limited flow, this newcomer from Japan is the shizzel! Don't take my word for it, check it out on their slick website that lets you order everything, including the aftermarket add-ons, right online. Or you can go to the high tech Scion showrooms, all tricked-out with plasmas and video games for the kids, to see these little pocket-panics.

Toyota has pulled out all the stops on this, and one thing we know about the "Emperor of the Land of the Rising Sun", they always deliver- as advertised!

As for the quality issue, these are not "Tercels" or other dubious, Cheap-anese crap. No tin-can doors here, heavy gauge steel door beams all around. I was surprised to find fit and finish that rivals any seen on Euro-sports cars and high end Japanese products. The 1.5 liter 16 valve engine makes 108 hp at 6000 rpm and sports a real timing chain -que novel!

Add on the AEM Cold Air Induction System and TRD exhaust for 20 more horsepower, and the 2400 lb Scion is now a bangin little street-screamer that still gets 30mpg. There is also a TRD Turbo package if you need even more hollas for your dollars. Snap! Right now there are just the two models; the xA (a pocket rocket, about $13k) and the xB (the BOX wagon, about $14k and the fan favorite). Adding more fuel to the fire is the tC Coupe, a definite Accord killer and serious threat to Acura. This is the start of something big.

Part of the cult devotion comes from the passion of the owners who love to spread the news via the many owner web sites like ScionLife.com ScionLife.com features user forums and other resources.Look at it as a great way get in on the ground floor of the next level of performance and style, and still have money left over for the other things in life. That is if you have other things going on, besides your ride! However, if you like working overtime to make car payments, or to give big paper to a mechanic, be our guest. Just don't say we didn't have your back when you're writing out those big checks. We won't have time to console you.
